Sapelle Herringbone & Decorative Panels
The Chapel at The Mater Hospital had a total refurbishment but wanted to use traditional materials from when it was first built, mahogany was traditionally used then but Sapelle was chosen here as it is more readily available. To add to the installation the architect also included bespoke parquet panels as a feature around the altar and main aisle.
All timbers were sanded and polished on site, primed and given four applications of a commercial grade lacquer. We also installed polished brass inserts to the steps.
