Frequently Asked Questions Inquisitions
Choosing a wooden floor can sometimes be a daunting project. Please look through some frequently asked questions that may help you start the process:
With so much choice out there it can feel overwhelming to pick what may be a floor you have for life. Over time we’ve found it best to advise customers to try and have an idea of colour/tone that they are going for before coming to the showroom. That way we can then help point the client in the right direction based on other factors like budget and size of the area.
We offer a free consultation/site survey service, it’s best if you’ve already visited the showroom and have narrowed down your options but if it’s sand and sealing then we can just visit site and go over the options available.
For supply and install projects we may ask to do a full site survey anyway if it’s anticipated that there may be things to look at or moisture readings to be taken, this is especially the case with new build projects.
A very frequent question and the hardest to answer. Wooden floor installations are almost entirely dependent on the size of the area and the product chosen.
Plank flooring, whether laminate, engineered or solid will have minimum 5% wastage involved. With herringbone parquet, chevron and other decorative parquet this starts at 10% wastage. If the area if particularly off square in nature or has many doorways then the wastage allowance can go up.
We have basic rates which we apply to laminate, engineered, herringbone and sanding projects and we will always break down the costs for your job so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Yes, We can give an estimate over the phone/email if the client has a couple of images and the size of the area, if happy we can do a site visit and firm the price up.
We can install laminate, click vinyl and prefinished timbers to exiting staircases or even precast concrete steps.
We also offer a special service where we make up fully solid treads and risers and bespoke finish them to match the chosen finish on an existing or new timber floor installation.
